German discomfort at Jewish self-protection

Thank you to those of you who wrote me emails about the Belgian encouragement of Palestinian hatred of Israel.  Unfortunately, the Belgians are not alone.  Last weekend, German Bishops came on a solidarity mission to Israel and the Palestinian territories.  Israel's Yad Vashem holocaust museum was a fitting place for them to visit,  and so they did.  And straight after, they were swept off to visit the Palestinian territories, where they promptly drew comparisons with what they had just seen - labelling it "Ghetto Ramallah", and comparing the Israeli treatment of Palestinians to German treatment of Jews.

It is hard to tell if this odious comparison was to whitewash what the Germans did in WWII, or a malicious attempt to demonise the Jewish state - or both.  Certainly it shows they didn't learn much at Yad Vashem.  Maybe someone should remind them.  The Germans rounded up peaceful citizens and herded them into ghettos.  Then they   systematically annihilated them.  Shot them on the spot or herded them into cattle cars to be gassed and cremated in concentration camps.

By comparison, peaceful Arab citizens of Israel (and some less than peaceful ones) benefit from every democratic right and are part of every element of society - as far as members of parliament and a minister of state. Arabs who are part of a neighbouring declared enemy territory can live anywhere in that territory that they chose.  But suicide bombers, drive-by shooters,  Kassam rockets and other threats must be kept out at all costs.  Military action is essential to arrest or kill everyone involved in the vile Palestinian war crimes they so love to label "resistance".  And I won't apologise to anyone for actions my government takes to protect me, my wife and my children.  Israel has made it clear time and time again.  Stretch out your hand in peace and we will grasp it.  But we will not sit idly by while terrorists plot another holocaust.

Ramallah is not a Ghetto. It is how failed Nazis live.

You write after a visit to Yad Vashem the Bishops were "swept off to the palestinian areas". Well, that was the mistake. After Yad Vashem, the Bishops should have been brought to Israeli hospitals to visit those crippled and maimed by Arab terrorists. And then to Jewish cemeteries to visit fresh graves of Jews knifed, shot and blown up. Then a visit with security people who can explain that for every terrorist incident that resulted in a death or injury there were hundreds of terrorist who were caught and thus unable to kill or maim Jews. The Yad Vashem visit was one they were already fortified for. It probably made them uncomfortable but certain politically correct responses has been learned for that period of history. It is more difficult to ignore those murdered yesterday or visit someone who no longer can walk or see due to a Hamas suicide bomber's vision of Paradise. They should have been exposed to the dirt under the carpet. As for Ramallah it should have been explained to them in terminology they could appreciate. This is how failed nazis live.

I wish this was in all the news media but of course showing anti-semitism is not "politically correct" but standing up against political cartoons of an evil sadistic tyrant by the name of "Prophet" Muhammed is politically correct.

I will never understand the 21st Century as it is starting out as if the Nazis are ruling the world in their 1,000-year reign. From the Nazi partners (Islamic terrorists) who destroy life to the 21st centuries group of wanna be Neville Chamberlains, I am afraid of the path this planet is going

My name is solly Ganor and I am a 79 year old Holocaust survivor of Ghetto Kovno and the concentration camp Dachau. I am not surprised at the Catholic German Bishops smear at the State of Israel. These are not some ignorant uninformed people who made the statement; they know very well that we built the wall to protect our children and population from being blown up. The fact is the suicide bombings since the erection of the wall has practically stopped.
The reason I am not surprised at their comments is the fact that the Catholic church for almost two thousand years preached hatred against the Jews and laid the base for the Holocaust. In 1988 at the fifty year commemoration of the Krystal Nacht in Germany when most of the German synagogues were burnt down, the Bishop of Canterbury made a short statement which was reported in the Jerusalem Post;
'If it weren't for the anti-Semitism of the churches the Holocaust would never have taken place.' In addition they are German Bishops! I am sure that many in their families, perhaps even their fathers, or grand fahthers participated in the murder of European Jury. I find it outrageous that German Catholic Bishops would make such a statement! All I can say is that I don't wish them well.
With best wishes and Shabat Sahlom. Solly Ganor

Actually, Israel has made it clear time and time again that it has no interest in peace; only in more land.

Do you actually believe your own tripe?

I not only believe it, but I LIVE it. I am an Israeli, who lives and works in the country. I want peace, my friends want peace, my business associates want peace, my greengrocer wants peace. We see it reflected in our newspapers, television, in our politician's speeches, in our Rabbi's sermons .... NOW compare those facts with what we see and read about from the Palestinian Authprity.
